Branch Story
When a religious organisation is formed, it has to be based on a solid foundation of Spiritual values and objectives, in order for it to make an impact on the community it serves as well as for it to be successful.
We in the Woodview Branch of the Saiva Sithantha Sungum are fortunate that our founder members, viz, Thiru’s Deena Rajoo, Sagren Ragaven, Late Sydney Ragavan, and ably assisted by Guru Dayalan Yelumalay, who at the time was the Deputy Guru of the Asherville Branch, decided to form the Saiva Sithantha Sungum - Woodview Branch.
The values in the Sungum as set out by our Founder His Holiness Brahma Sri Soobramonia Guru Swamigal is
envisaged in True Spiritual and God determined ways that go back thousands of years back, as preached by our Saivite Saints and Sages.
What more can any fledging organisation ask, BUT to be given such a great platform to start off from.
The Branch officially started of on the 1st October 1995, under the able Spiritual leadership of Guru Dayalan Yelumalay and with the assistance from the Spiritual Leaders and Gurus and members of Other Branches.
The branch leadership was then passed on to Guru Mali Govindsamy. Sadly, she passed on years later. Various Guru's have served the branch since including ; Guru Strini Govender, Guru Nad Moonsamy and Guru Jay Munusamy.
We are regularly involved in various activities as well as regular satsangs, singing classes, music lessons, encouraging the learning of the Tamil language, cottage services and assisting other Branches and organisation whenever required to do so.
Our youth are always involved in assisting our sister Branches whenever required to do so. We have a vibrant youth force that is ever willing to go the extra mile when required to. The Branch has endeavoured to empower the youth, in order for them to take over leadership roles, to prepare them for the future in our organisation.
