Sakthi Prayer explained by Swami Siva Yogananda

Guru Swamigal was deeply affected by the sacrificing of animals that traditionally take place  during Amman Prayers or “Porridge Payers” and wanted to demonstrate through the Sakthi Prayers how the Divine Mother could be worshipped without the loss of life and in a most compassionate way. 

Guru Swamigal started the Maha Sakthi Prayer to bring home to even the ordinary man the message that Siva and Sakthi are not different from each other. They are two aspects of the one truth like fragrance and flowers, water and ice, and sun and its rays. 

Siva is like the silent witness and Sakthi is the active principle. Without Siva, Sakthi has no existence just like the rays have no existence without the sun and without Sakthi, Siva has no expression. Therefore, the Supreme Sivaperumaan is the mother and father of the universe.

Maha Sakthi is the power and cosmic energy of Supreme Sivaperumaan manifest in the universe, activating the whole world. She is Malini (Uma) and Makuli (Kundilini). She is Chandika, the tornado that blows away the troubles of her devotees. She is protectress standing indivisible from the protector. She is Mohini – vibrant. She is Yogini –amiable. She is Manonmani – the heart’s precious gem and Mangali – auspiciousness. She is jnana, the true way that drives away the evil ways. 

Adore Parasakthi with fragrant flowers and with the heart melting with love and be illumined. The resplendent Parasakthi dispels anava darkness. The golden goddess of wealth shall be at your feet.

When you look at your own mother at home you will see her outpouring love, her kindness and compassion, her protective nature and many other beautiful qualities. 

Likewise, when you connect to God as the divine mother you will experience all these qualities. When a child cries a mother leaves everything she is doing and instantaneously responds to the child. Similarly, when you connect to God as the Mother and all her motherly qualities the Divine Mother Sakthi will respond to your prayers and pleas instantly. 

A mother is instinctively protective of her child. She natures it, provides for it and protects it. The Divine Mother Sakthi is the energy and power of the Supreme Sivaperumaan. Our mother Sakthie will protect the children of the world from the worst dangers. Therefore, we must surrender and supplicate to the Divine mother Sakthi and live under her protection all the time.

The Divine Sakthi is inherent in your life, but remains dormant.

 Just as fanning the flame makes the charcoal burn, so too, divine consciousness is the fan which will make you glow with divine effulgence. When you fill your mind with loving, noble and pure thoughts, you generate energy and experience peace of mind. 

This is the experience of Sakthi. The peace in your mind flows into your attitudes and the peace in your attitudes manifest in your actions. 

When you cultivate peace and harmony in your thoughts, words and actions, you will enjoy the overwhelming experience of the divine energy or Sakthi in your life.
