From a tender age, Swami Arjunananda found his spiritual mentor in His Holiness Sri Siva Soobramonia Guru Swamigal. This fortuitous meeting at a public talk the Guru Swamigal was delivering was not just a meeting of two individuals but a confluence of two souls dedicated to the noble cause of furthering the mission of the Saiva Sithantha Sungum. A conscious choice at a young age to walk in the footsteps of his esteemed guru, Swami Arjunananda exemplified the deep roots of dedication that would characterise his entire life.
In 1955, with an unwavering spirit and vision, he spearheaded the Welbedacht Branch of the Sungum. Not only was he a leader, but he was also a beacon of light during the crucial foundational years of the Sungum, standing steadfastly by Guru Swamigal's side. His loyalty and commitment knew no bounds, evidenced by his selfless service to the master, showcasing a devotion that was unparalleled.
Such was his deep-rooted commitment to the cause and to the master that he made a profound sacrifice that few can fathom. Leaving behind the comforts of his job and home, Swami Arjunananda chose a life of complete dedication, residing at the Westcliff Branch of the Sungum. There, every breath he took, every word he spoke, and every action he performed was imbued with the sacred mission of the Sungum.
During these formative years, he was not just a leader but also a dedicated servant, operating the Heidelberg machine in the Sungum's printing press.
